Lumen Wellness & Counseling was founded to help Members find a safe place to share their thoughts and feelings, with the goal to provide support and tools to find peace and fulfillment in their lives. Our licensed therapists are chosen for their deep expertise and experience in addressing issues such as life transitions, relationship issues, anxiety, depression, medical issues, perinatal mood and anxiety disorder, and infertility just to name a few.
Assisting couples in their journey towards well-being is often beneficial. This can include getting a relationship back on track or addressing past hurt. Lumen expert Couples Counseling can provide this help.
The most important factor in choosing any health care provider is to make sure you have a good connection. You should feel confident the therapist can help you achieve your counseling goals. If you believe our therapists' expertise and emotional support services could be a good fit, contact us for a complimentary 10-15 min phone evaluation. The goal of the evaluation will be to ensure you are comfortable that we can provide you with the care and support needed before moving forward with scheduling your first session. If a successful connection is not made, we are able to help connect you with other providers in our network who can.
All clients are Members! The Lumen Wellness & Counseling experience is best described as a person-centered membership rather than client, customer, or patient. Our Member support and services do not start or stop during scheduled appointments. For example, Lumen therapists pride themselves on being accessible as much as possible by phone, text, or email when needed. They will help connect you with other healthcare providers in the community.
Our Members have provided very positive feedback about our Virtual and Park options. They will always remain part of our core appointment options. The convenience of virtual (video) sessions or serenity of a beautiful park (weather permitting) are indispensable to our Members.
We encourage members to take advantage of our Chesterfield, MO location for in-person counseling whenever preferred. It's not 1 or the other, member relationships are with therapists who can generally accommodate any of our location options for each appointment.
Lumen began operations in June 2021.
We launched our Chesterfield, MO location in January 2022 for therapy, counseling and prescription quality skin care product line. Massage services were also started in 2022.
No! We are a woman-owned startup business local to the St. Louis area. We plan on opening additional locations and in different cities as we gain Members and hire the most talented therapists and staff. Location number 2 is being actively planned for Scottsdale, Arizona.
We are not in-network with any insurance providers. However, there are options to use health insurance benefits depending upon the details of your health insurance plan.
Please check with your health plan to see if any of these options are available to you:
Upon request, we will provide a properly coded 'Superbill' which enables insurance reimbursement options in plans as out-of-network provider. Some insurance plans will reimburse you the same in-network and out-of-network for behavioral health benefits (their words, not ours!) Our experience is that many of our members recover >50% cost with out of network claims.
We are aware that some insurance plans reimburse up to 100% for behavioral health virtual appointments. We offer and provide virtual counseling on a daily basis to our members
We provide licensed mental health therapy services which can be paid with pre-tax HSA and FSA accounts
We are happy to help you navigate the complex world of insurance benefits but cannot advise exactly what your plan will cover.
We are 100% committed to no billing surprises. Details of costs are provided in advance in both written and verbal forms. Members are always in control. Please call either office for specific rates.

Illinois
We can offer therapy sessions to Members from other states. However, Members often need to be in a licensed state at time of counseling or therapy appointment. For example:
College students in licensed states can work with our therapists while in these states
We have Members who live in other states that come in person or have a virtual video location in licensed state (such as an office or private hot spot location)
More states are in the works with Arizona under active inquiry. Because of the complexity of state licensing, if you have a unsure situation please call and let us help figure it out.
